Grasmere Year six cycle ride 2009

Dear readers

I am sorry i have not made a blog for a while, but finally a new story has arose!

Grasmere cycle ride 2009

On friday the -th of July Grasmere primary school was to have the traditional year six(yes im in year six) bike ride. On the day i had to be at the school by 8.15 making the best time to get up around 7.30 AM it was planned that my dad or matt(my brother) would wake me up so if one forgets the other would surely remember........they both forgot. I finally woke myself at 10 to 7 leaving 5 minutes to get dressed, brush my teeth, make my toast, get my bycicle from the garden and generally get ready, i was in a bit of trouble. To cut time i didn't toast my toast and couldnt watch tv :( .

Amazingly i arrived at school in time for the bike ride. The whole of my class were all given yellow t-shirts which read: Grasmere Year Six Cycle Ride 2009. The plan was to all be really carefull on the roads we cycle through until we reach the river that we going to cycle down for 20 miles. We set off, this was the first time i had been cycling on the road for about a year so i was slightly frightened. We road for about a mile until we reached the river were we stopped to have a break. The track was a sandy path with the river to the left and past the river lots of power plants. to the right there was generally farmland. After a mile of cycling the boy (Joshua) who was at the time infront of me was moaning about his bike. He had forgot to bring his bike into school that day, but luckily another boy had two bikes, however the bike was MEGA Tiny. Joshua being a tall boy i thought i might swap bikes to be nice at the next stop...what a mistake that was. So i cycled with that bike for a few miles finding it much harder than my bike i had swapped with Joshua. I kept dropping to the back until i was eventually about third last, suddenly i found the cycling really difficult and i became last then a metre away from the person infront then 2 metres, five, ten, and they go round a corner i was on my own in the middle of nowhere i kept cycling extremely slow for about ten minutes until i found it too hard and i walked it, something must have been wrong, i felt the back tyre and it was fully punctured. I groaned, i was in the middle of nowhere with nobody and a flat bike, Great.

I walked my bike down the path by the river for twenty minutes on end only covering about 200 metres in the time then behind me i saw some people cycling towards me in yellow, some people from the ride! I was so relieved when i saw them, one of them was called gail who was a parent helper and the other was called Richard who was a master of fixing bikes. They were ment to stay at hte back and pick up all the stragglers. Me and gail sat on a hill watch richard fix the bike on gravel. I told her about the things that happened so far and they called me very noble. It took richard half an hour to fix the bikes punctures, making us miles behing everybody. We had to race so that we didnt get lost at a crossroad or come to late for the session we were to have at the swimming pool. We covered about two miles making us about 6 miles into the ride when we saw another straggler called tami who was claiming he would die if he cycled moreluckily he didnt die when we had to continue racing. We finally reached the pack who had waited for us at a cafe, they left very fast after they saw us like we were a signal saying move. But richard had to refill my water bottle from the cafe he tried to run so fast so that we didnt lose sight of them again and he failed we had lost them again. we had to go quick so that we could catch up. As we were just becoming close again another straggler called Arebella join our group we were very close to the main group now and..... Arebella skidded off the track into some nettles. Gail had to administer first aid to Arebella for about five minutes losing our closeness, this was a bad time, we new we would have to be so quick not miss our session at the swimming pool. We tried to go fast but we were all really tired now, my neck an backside were aching the worst and it was the same with others. We arrived at a sign that read: Welcome to broxbourne this gave us a bit of encouragement but we still had long to go. Then we were about 10 miles in. We came to a crossing it we could go left or right, none of us knew the way and the teachers aheads phone werent answering. Both of the ways apparently, according to the signs, lead to the same leisure centre but one was a lot slower way and the other was about 5 minutes away. We picked right, and we cycled with the thought that 'If this way was slower it only will be by about 10 minutes or so', How wrong. We cycled down a muddy track with puddles covering it making it unavoidable to not get your trousers muddy. By now we knew that we were gonna have to be speedy or we will miss the swmming for sure. we cycled down the muddy path for 1/2 a mile or so and we were definite we had gone the wrong way but we didnt turn round. we finally saw signs of a housing area giving us hope that we were near. But as we stopped for a water break we encountered the worst moment of the day.
We got a phone call from our deputy headteacher saying' Were are you? You've missed our swimming pool slot.' when we heard this all of us were so depressed it was like there was no point anymore, i'd cycled to broxbourne and then we went back. The last slog to the centre was horrific we were aching all over and we knew we would have lunch then have to cycle back. We came to see our classmates drinking coke and wondering were we'd been. So i settled down inside the leisure centre. While everybody had there lunch, i didn't, gail had slowed down near the end of the ride to see if there was anyone behind and she had got lost. So at this point i had no lunch, was extremely tired, only had about five minutes relaxing, missed my swimming, had to cycle another 11 miles back and was overall depressed and sad. But at this point things began to look up. Richard who could see had no lunch gave me a fiver and said i could have anything i wanted from the cafe, that was a good moment. Finally gail arrived with my lunch, but oo late to eat for we were going in a minute but then our deputy headteacher stood up and made a speech he said that he could see that we were depressed and that they had bought us two hours of free time in the leisure centre everyone was happy especially me, things were looking up. So we went swimming and time passed until we were going in about ten minutes and i was packing my swimming trunks into my bag when i noticed some blood were by backside had been, it showed how much pain that bike had given me. Then finally our deputy headteacher made a final speech before we went: 'We hav decided that all of you are clearly too tired to go the way back so we have decided to take a train back', a cry oh happiness went into the air.

Crime!

Dear Readers

On Thursday 4th of June, something extremely exciting(and bad) happened right outside my front door.

On the same sunny day there was a armed robbery of a post office very near my house, i am not sure how much money they took but it was probably alot because it would be worth more than a car(you'll find out later). They jumped in a stolen car and drove to my street then got out of the car and poured petrol over it. They jumped into another van and rather movieish(Moviesh, Movish, who knows?) while the van was moving they chucked a match out of the window and....

KABOOM! I was inside on the computer at the time but i heard the sound and looked outside to see the car engulfed in flames amazingly the police and the fireman were already there putting the fire out and closing the area off. Personally i didn't get to see the thieves but other people on my street did. When the police closed the area off they were being really strict and weren't letting anybody into the area or out. Sadly my mum and brother were outside and couldn't get in for an hour, the police finally left after about 5 hours.

It was quite fun showing off to the people at my school about this, and apparently at my brothers school people said things like 'Aww, i chased them but they were to fast for me' i found this quite funny. As a summary i would say that this was really exciting and fun but there are some bad aspects because our neighbours car was damaged and their insurance doesn't cover that.

The problem with S.A.T.S

Dear readers

This post is going to be quite short, but i thought it was important.

Today I have been thinking at school, whats the point in S.A.T.S? It doesnt affect me, or any child who does them it only helps the school. For children like me who are level 5 in all core subjects I find that it gets so boring just doing revision, all I have been doing is revision, revision, revision when I could be learning so much more!! All the school cares about is there S.A.T.S results not my education!! I believe this system should be changed for I love challenges and S.A.T.S is not a challenge.

Masha returns!!!

Dear readers

Last Monday the greatest thing happened, we found our long lost cat Masha!!! But of course i have not told you about masha yet so that you shall know first.

About 3-4 years ago we got Masha from the RSPCA in ------ (where I used to live, for more info read http://brutusnews.blogspot.com/2009/05/me.html) my Dad chose her for he thought she looked very beautiful and he named her after somebody he met in Russia. We lived with her happily in ------ until we moved to ------ where clearly Masha did not like so much. A few months in, she decided to run away.

We all thought we were never going to see her again, until my Dad, who was cycling back from his work spotted her on a road that was close to our house yet one of the places we did not search. He phoned my Mum who was at home with me cooking and told her he had found Masha!! As quickly as possible we jumped in the car and sped away to the road Dad was on. When we arrived we all agreed it was her and bundled her in the car. When home she seemed surprisingly calm, possibly because she knew our smell?

Anyway we found her and she hasnt run away yet.

Me.

Dear Readers

I have decided that it is time i explained who I am.

I have recently turned -- years old for I was born on the fine day of the 29th of april . About seven months ago I moved from ------ to ------, very unhappily. I liked my freinds in ------ alot and the people in my class I just don't really like.

My ------ school was very large and my year practically had its own football pitch, however the ------ school is rather small so you are forced to play games such as ''It'' and ''Hopscotch'' which does not quite match football.

Changing the subject slightly, today a boy called ----- had to come round to my house today. Generally people coming to my house always ends up as a disaster and is extremely embarrasing for me. This time wasnt the worst but you can tell from his face that he was getting slightly bored. Apparently I have to go to his house on tuesday next week which is a bit annoying because it's really frustrating when your mum invites people round you dont really like.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mr/Mrs/sir/madame/professor

This is my first entry on my blog/blogger/blogspot. Yesterday i had my birthday party with some people from my school, against my will.

Two weeks earlier my mum was phoned by a boy's mum and wondered
if i would like to share a party with her son.My mum thought that i would enjoy the party even if i didnt want it.

When i found out I was outraged! Never before has such a horrific outrage occurred in the history of the Roman Empire!!!

Before the party me and my family were deciding how to politely tell somebody they were not very good at something, such as, ''your not the sharpest knife in the draw''. I came up with ''your a bit salty''.

The party wasnt the greatest disaster ever so I decided that it was the second greatest disaster ever.

Yours sincerely
